Upcoming and current projects
Volunteer work parties for roadside vegetation clearing: Roadside vegetation clearance is an important part of our 3 Year Action Plan, and Hill House Rd is our focus area for Year 2 (2026). The goal is to improve fire safety by clearing overgrown vegetation along the roadsides—helping ensure safe evacuation routes for residents and safe access for firefighters in case of a wildfire. We've had two work days so far. Please sign up to help here!
If you are a Hill House Rd resident or property owner: Receiving this assistance is entirely optional and depends completely on your preference. Please take a moment to complete this brief form to let us know if we have your permission for neighborhood volunteers to clear the roadside bordering your property, or if you would prefer to opt out.
Past projects
Third Roadside Vegetation Work Party: Our third volunteer work party tackled broom on China Grade between Coffeeberry and Memory to great effect. We were able to take advantage of the county's free vegetation dump days for district 5 residents - volunteers hauled 3 pickup-truck loads of broom to the transfer station!
First Roadside Vegetation Work Party! The first China Grade Firewise work party was a resounding success! With over a dozen neighbors pitching in, the group did an outstanding job clearing roadside vegetation along the first half-mile of road. Thanks to their efforts—and the hard work of residents who prepared their properties beforehand—we have improved the safety of our neighborhood in the event of a wildfire, both for resident evacuation and first responder access. A big thank you to everyone involved!
